Certification Program Manager

Role Overview: GPMS International, Inc. is seeking a senior level Certification
Program Manager. The ideal candidate for this role has 10 -15 years’ experience within the aviation industry, as the sole owner of certification programs, with a solid foundation in engineering and quality.

In this role, you will lead the Certification Team through initial design, build, installation, and final certification, serving as program manager, customer liaison, engineering and certification coordinator.

LOCATIONS: Remote or based at our Waterbury, VT headquarters. This position requires up to 50% travel to support installation and certification.

SALARY: $130,000 USD to $200,000 USD commensurate with experience

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

• Education – Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Management.
• Experience – 10-15 years of technical project/program management experience with Supplemental Type Certifications
• Experience managing DO-160 testing
• Experience managing installation, design and certification of mechanical/electrical equipment onto Commercial and Military platforms
• Experience with FAA Regulations and TC/STC Certification processes
• Experience managing Foreign Validations
• Experience working with and leading diverse groups
• Experience with Microsoft tools such as Project, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Responsible for the following tasks as they relate to each Certification Team member:
  • Systems Engineer – Review baseline architecture provided by Systems Engineer to ensure alignment with selected aircraft for installation. Monitor configuration developed by Systems Engineer to ensure timely completion in accordance with program schedule. Manage all Systems Engineer certification related program tasks including but not limited to: Development of similarity reports, ground/flight test reports, structural analysis reports, system schematic, etc.
  • Mechanical Engineer – Serve as the final review and approver for all drawings developed, including Installation Drawings, Routing Drawings, Detail Part Drawings, Mechanical Assembly Drawings, Top Level Installation Drawings. Manage Mechanical Eng required tasks across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Electrical Engineer – Serve as the final review and approver for all drawings developed, including Wiring and Block Diagrams. Manage Electrical Eng required tasks across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Manage any additional contractor support
• Capture and maintain future program updates and develop schedule for rollout.
• Act as liaison between GPMS and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) and Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DARs)
• Communicate regulatory requirements in a clear and concise manner to ensure all stakeholders understand the scope of compliance activities
• Ensure appropriate methods of compliance are selected and adhered to
• Lead the development, authoring, review, and execution of certification plans
• Plan and execute certification test campaigns, including coordination of Conformity Inspections, DER witnessing, and test results documentation
• Review designs and documentation with DERs to ensure compliance with airworthiness standards
• Lead and support meetings with regulatory authorities; prepare briefing materials, and ensure completion of action items
• Submit required documentation for Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA)
• Provide data and information to support Minor Changes to STCs, provide/coordinate response to all questions during approval cycle
• Provide data and information to support Foreign Validations, provide/coordinate response to all questions during approval cycle
• Participate in ODA/FAA meetings to address program related concerns
• Manage delivery of hardware to support installation efforts with Production
• Manage the inspection/installation with aircraft operators
• Manage STC documentation ensuring appropriate retention, organization, and distribution
• Ability to work with internal and external contacts on individual and team basis
• Ability to be both an independent and collaborative problem solver
